CURATING A MOOD
As a child, I have vivid memories of obsessing over furniture placement in my room and how color choice was a reflection of my internal world. When left to my own devices, I would drag my bed to the opposite wall just to experience what lying in a new direction felt like. And during my angsty teen years, I spearheaded an experiment to see if the soft blue walls and ruffly curtains of my youth added to my agitation, and if blanketing the space in black, white, and red would reflect the drama that was ME. That insatiable curiosity has stayed with me into adulthood and I consider myself a lifetime student of how physical spaces affect our thoughts, moods, and actions.
I am a formally trained Interior Designer and self-taught scholar of furniture and design history. I work from an ethos prioritizing both artistry and comfort, which means creating spaces people want to linger in. I can get absorbed in layout design for hours, noodling a floor plan like a puzzle, and am interested in materials that are rich in texture. I also love exploring ways we live with art by blending important works seamlessly into spaces so they become part of a physical tapestry reflecting who we are, or in commercial work, the feeling we aim to convey.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, while spending lots of time in desert and Rocky Mountain landscapes, these environments provide abiding inspiration to my work.
